The protein in this form does not release histamine due to the fact that its molecules are less than 10,000 daltons and cannot lead to IgE immunoglobulin fusion. This feature causes that hydrolysed protein is very often used in the production of hypoallergenic feeds. This allows the use of hydrolysed protein as an ingredient in feed used in elimination diets, in the case of food allergies – e.g. in dog allergic to poultry, there should be no allergic reaction to hydrolysed poultry protein.
